Perfect Dark Zero Xbox Live Connection Problems
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: First Person Shooters, Internet, Xbox 360, Xbox Live,
When we realized that about 90% of the time we try to connect to a multiplayer session over Xbox Live in Perfect Dark Zero, we did some checking. As it turns out, this is not an issue isolated to our network, as plenty of people are experiencing a similar phenomenon. The error message displayed is as follows:
“You have lost connection to the match.”
Ouch. Anyone else having this problem?

DigitalLife Interview with Paul Nelson aka “czm”: Pro Gamer
Posted by Edwin Soto Categories: Features, First Person Shooters, PC,
We ran into Paul Nelson at DigitalLife as he was just wrapping up a seminar on the pro gaming leagues. Just about everyone I know thinks they have what it takes to be the next big money making gamer. Paul, or as you know and fear him, “czm,” was kind enough to answer a couple of questions for us:
PlayFeed: What game made you start competing?
Paul Nelson: Quake, I mainly play Quake 3 right now in tournaments.

Peter Jackson Joins Halo Movie Team
Posted by Oscar M. Cantu Categories: Corporate News, First Person Shooters, Xbox,
During X05 it was revealed that Peter Jackson of Lord of The Rings fame has joined the team that will be bringing Master Chief to the big screen. The movie is set to hit the screens in 2007 in conjunction with a rumored Halo 3 launch. Can we expect great things from Mr. Jackson in this movie just like he did with the Lord of The Rings? We can only hope. He had this to say:
“As a gaming fan, I’m excited to bring HALO’s premise, action and settings to the screen with all the specificity and reality today’s technology can provide,” said Jackson. “Fran and I are intrigued by the unique challenges this project offers, and we’re delighted to be working again with our friends at Universal, and with our new ones at Fox and Microsoft. I’m a huge fan of the game and look forward to helping it come alive on the cinema screen.”

Here’s a look at the latest Doom movie trailer, featuring more footage than its predecessor. This time you actually get to see the weapons being used in combat, as well as the very cool first person camera shots being put into the movie adaptation of Doom. The FPS shots look awesome, but I can’t help but wonder how many people will get dizzy at the watching this one. Remember Blair Witch?

Unreal Tournament 2007 Screenshots
Posted by Oscar M. Cantu Categories: First Person Shooters, Xbox 360,
These screenshots of Unreal Tournament 2007 look just amazing. What stands out the most is the level of detail put into the game. It’s not clear if these are in-game shots, or if they originate from a pre-rendered version. We’ll just have to sit and wait just a little bit longer to find out.

It was bound to happen sooner or later, but Doom, the original cult classic FPS has been ported to the iPodLinux platform. I can’t imagine how they get the UI to work with the click wheel, and there are a lot of reports of frame-rate issues, but this is just nifty. Frustrating UI aside, it really is impressive how many platforms Doom has been ported to - I have it on my smartphone right now and can only imagine what portable devices of tomorrow will be able to run it.

Heretic Homebrew for the DS
Posted by Sparky Categories: First Person Shooters, Mods/Hacks, Portable/Mobile,
The Nintendo DS homebrew market is starting to heat up and some brilliant hackers over at Drunken Coders have managed to port Raven’s 1994 classic FPS Heretic to the DS - they even manage to take advantage of the second screen to display in game maps. I’m not sure how many of you guys have played Heretic but it was easily one of the better games of it’s era - it had great graphics, fun gameplay, and (for the time) a very involving story-line. I know the Nintendo DS lacks some of the “cool factor” that the PSP has, but as more and more cool retro homebrew projects pop up I get more and more tempted to get one - I could spend hours going through Heretic again!

Coming October 21st of this year, the movie based on the highly popular video game, Doom, will be released and awaited eagerly by fans of the game to witness first hand if it will leave you in awe or feeling you were just ripped off when the movie ticket was purchased. The website to the movie is finally online and sports some information, a wallpaper of the logo, some pictures and a download link to IGN’s exclusive movie teaser trailer. So far the trailer looks promising, but of course that’s the whole point. We’ll just have to wait a bit longer to decide weather this movie will be worth watching or if getting some sleep would be more enjoyable – and less expensive.

EA and Valve Team Up
Posted by Oscar M. Cantu Categories: Corporate News, First Person Shooters, Xbox, Xbox 360,
There’s one more notch on EA’s belt now that Valve has signed an agreement with EA to allow the company to deliver its award wining games to its gaming audience. This means that EA will be publishing and distributing the Half-Life 2 version for the Xbox later this year, Half-Life 2: Game of the Year and Counter-Strike: Source for PC. Valve will still be selling online versions of their games via their website – SteamPowered.com. Is EA trying to take over the gaming world or do they just want a piece of the pie that is Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike?
